As far as channel stories go, the birth of Sydney reseller Applaud was quite dramatic. The tale begins 5 years ago when with Ricci Danieletto, later to be Applaud's Managing Director, running the Australian operations of multinational systems integrator called Cybernet Engineering.
Danieletto was the first employee hired to drive Cyberet's mnaged services expansion in the Asia Pacific and by 2004 the subsidiary had grown to 60 staff. Danieletto says the Australian unit was performing strongly when in late 2004 the Cynernet CEO Barton Watson was busted for a US$100 million fraud.

Relationship like 'Thelma and Louise' or 'Paris Hilton' and whoever?
More than a third of IT managers described their vendor relationships as 'Thelma and Lousie' - best friends - in a survey conducted by managed IT services provider Applaud. About the same number of respondents said their relationships were more akin to heiress 'Paris Hilton and whoever', describing them as a 'temporary alliance of mutual benefit'.
Eighty-nine organisations were surveyed last month at the IT Service Management Forum Australia in Melbourne.

His areas of responsibility include infrastructure outsourcing services, service desk support, asset management, remote monitoring and management, storage management, data centre and cloud management.
Richards joins Applaud with more than 15 years experience in project management and 10 in the IT indusrty, most recently as principal architect at Dell Australia, based in Sydney, where he was responsible for scoping complex managed services solutions, including solution design, tender response, cost modelling and risk management. He was national incident manager for Telstra and was with with CBA, Datacom,IBM,and ING Australia.
APPLAUD TURNS TO THE CLOUD

Applaud has built a cloud platform called Applaud Cloud and is testing it with key customers. The Sydney based reseller had chosen HP and Dell hardware to build its cloud infrastructure. Dell's Equalogic storage appealed because of its ability to scale, said managing director Ricci Danieletto.
Applaud joins a growing number of providers that are assembling cloud offerings for their customers. However, Danieletto clamined the company's history in managed services meant it could offer a more personalised service than larger players.
